Milestones – The “Story” Continues – Opinion

It was just a few months ago that Governor Gruesome Newsom proudly announced that California would end the year with ONLY a two billion dollar deficit. Well, folks, that was a fabrication. This was not just a rounding error in placing the decimal point. The bag has been opened, the cat is out, and what the Golden State is headed for is an eleven billion dollar shortfall.

What happened? Was it a rounding error, misplaced invoices, a bad adding machine or sheer stupidity? How can a governor who wants to be President be not just wrong, but so far off the blackboard he’s writing on the wall?

When residents and citizens have been spoonfed a lot of left-over political mush that has gone undigested and then are hit with a huge unfunded budget biscuit, it is sloppy supervision of our dollars.

Folks, we can do better. And, frankly, we deserve better. We have put up with these unbalanced budgets, stupid projects like the billion-dollar bullet train that runs from nowhere now to nowhere on arrival. That budget-busting bag of baloney has made some politicians a lot wealthier. It has done and will do nothing for residents. Maybe in a few years, you will be able to visit the “Bullet Train Museum,” the train that got derailed and whose only riders were Sacramento politicians who “earned” their own tickets.

But wait! There’s more! Californians aren’t dying from intestinal indigestion; however, we suffer immensely from political indigestion. There are huge problems facing our state — ever-worsening fire seasons, out-of-reach housing, billion-dollar transportation boondoggles, and, yes, the eleven billion dollar deficit. Public time is public money and we’re wasting it when we need to be saving it.

Sounds a lot like building a bullet train…from Fogville to Idiotville!
