The Santa Clara Bruins beat new rival the MacDonald Condors by a score of 48-11 on Jan. 17, welcoming the first-year varsity team to the league.

Despite a third quarter setback, the Fremont Firebirds beat the Monta Vista Matadors 45-41 on Jan. 8 to move to third in the division.

For more than 50 years, Miguel Castillo has coached basketball in the Bay Area, most recently with the Fremont Firebirds in Sunnyvale.

Angelinah "Sky" De Leon returns to the mat for Santa Clara High School this year with a target on her back after ranking at state last season.

Last season, Angelinah De Leon finished her junior season wrestling for the Santa Clara Bruins as a CCS Champion and second-place finisher at the CIF State Wrestling meet.
